Certco's mission is to serve the independent grocer with quality service, assortment, and growth.
History
Certco's original name was "Central Wisconsin Cooperative Food Stores". It began in 1930 when five retailers in the Madison area joined together to get lower prices through combined purchasing. Using a downtown garage as their distribution center, they began their venture with a capital investment of $4,000. In 1956, the company name was changed to "Certified Grocer's CO-OP".
Since its beginning the company has enjoyed a steady pattern of growth. In 1962, the distribution center was moved to its current location where in 1975, the name was changed to "Certco, Inc.".
The growth continues. Today, Certco, Inc. services stores throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa.
